Chinese-born French painter, born in Beijing, China, studied in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, and studied painting. In 1935, he entered the Hangzhou Art College and studied under Lin Fengmian. In 1948, he went to France to study and settled in France. In the creation of paintings, taking the form of modern Western paintings and the color techniques of oil paintings, participating in the meaning of Chinese traditional culture and art, creating a new painting space with color change, strong brush stroke, rhythm and light, known as "Western Modern A representative of the lyrical abstraction." He is now a lifelong painter of the French Gallery and a professor of the National Institute of Decorative Arts in Paris, and won the French Knights Medal. He has held more than 160 solo exhibitions around the world. On April 9, 2013, Zao Wou-ki died of illness and illness in Vaud, Switzerland, at the age of 92.
